Project Title: We Make a Difference! Grade: 3 Name: Glacier Singleton
Project Idea: Students will recognize how people make a difference in their local community and in the global community. Students will identify various charity and volunteer organizations including those that kids can participate in too. They will find data to determine the impact a particular charity or volunteer organization has had on the community (locally or globally). Students will work in groups of four to create a multimedia presentation to show how volunteering impacts a community and encouraging others to volunteer.
General Content: 3.C & G.2 Understand how citizens participate in their communities and in the world. Exemplify how citizens contribute politically, socially, and economically to their communities.
Driving Question: How can we, as members of our community, use volunteer work to impact our community and persuade others to volunteer too? (How can we increase the amount of volunteers in our community?)
Major Products: Student groups will create a multimedia presentation (powerpoint, prezi, infomercial, etc) to show the benefits of volunteering and persuading others to volunteer too. Students will create a poster to encourage volunteering (individually)
